Freshly squeezed juices at home are miles ahead of those available in the supermarket in terms of nutrient and vitamin content. But before apples, pineapples and carrots can be transformed into a healthy drink, you first need to choose the right juicer. There are big differences here too. Cheap juicers often work using centrifugal force, where the fruit and vegetables are cut up with small knives and the juice is practically thrown out. This heats up the juice and mixes it with oxygen. Both heat and oxidation have a negative effect on the nutrients and the quality of the juice. So-called slow juicers have therefore become increasingly popular in recent years. These slowly and gently release the juice and thus not only have a higher juice yield, but above all achieve maximum juice quality.

Experiences with the Hurom H400 juicer in the test: Structure & use of the slow juicer

The Hurom H400 no longer has a separate sieve. When developing the H400 series, the manufacturer decided to integrate the sieve directly into the auger for squeezing the juice. This design is called the “Easy-Clean Chamber System”.
The structure is as follows. At the top there is a knife for cutting up the fruits and vegetables in the basket. Juicing takes place on the outside of the auger, while the juice is separated from the pulp inside the chambers. The juice then goes into the liquid container and the remains are in the pulp chamber on the back of the device. This is also where the switch for turning the slow juicer on and off and the connection for the separate power cable are located. All baskets and collecting containers, as well as the auger, can be removed for cleaning and can be easily cleaned by rinsing or in the dishwasher. For me, this extremely easy cleaning was one of the absolute plus points of my first Hurom.

The Hurom H400 slow juicer is one of the quieter devices. In apartment buildings with thin walls and noise-sensitive neighbors, there is no reason to forego preparing fresh juice early in the morning. The motor does its work in a pleasantly quiet tone, regardless of the hardness of the fruit and vegetables. Those who have only had experience with conventional centrifugal juicers will notice a difference like night and day. The Hurom H400 can almost be described as whisper quiet.

Conclusion of the Hurom H400 juicer test

The Hurom H400 slow juicer is a sensible investment if you want to enjoy freshly squeezed juices at home with as little effort and time as possible and achieve the highest nutrient density and juice quality. The combination of a screw press and integrated sieve is effective for berries as well as fruit and vegetables that have a harder consistency. One advantage that goes hand in hand with the new, even more straightforward design is that it is even easier to clean. On the other hand, the H400 offers a little less flexibility in terms of juice consistency.
